Zambroza's Ingredients
Zambroza's
special combination of ingredients synergistically provide health
benefits many times greater than the individual
benefits of each ingredient. This unique combination makes
Zambroza the finest Antioxidant drink on the
market. Zambroza is made from the valued
and exotic-tasting mangosteen &
wolfberry fruits from the orient, which have
been combined with the additional antioxidant power of red and concord
grapes, raspberry, blueberry, grape seed and
grape skin, applephenon and decaffeinated green tea extract.
A detailed description of the health benefits of each ingredient can be seen
below:-

Mangosteen
(Garcinia mangostana) is one of the most exciting
fruits included in this juice blend. Mangosteen’s
pericarp contains a class of super-antioxidants called
xanthones which support the immune system, structural system,
digestive system, brain and the skin. Three of
these powerful Xanthones were discovered by Nature’s Sunshine
scientists. Dr. Jerry McLaughlin (pharmacologist) explains the medicinal
benefits of this Queen of Fruits: “The
mangosteen is an important food throughout Southeast Asia. The
healing powers of the fruit have been known for
many years particularly in Thailand. Research has
identified some of the bioactive components as a mixture of
xanthones. These compounds possess powerful
antioxidant properties but they also help to explain a
whole series of healthful benefits that have appeared in recent literature:

• Anticancer effects (involving apoptosis) in a
variety of tumour types
• Prevention of high cholesterol, a key factor in
preventing atherosclerosis
• Antibacterial effects
against antibiotic-resistant bacteria, including tuberculosis
• Antifungal activities against human fungal pathogens
• Inhibitors of HIV-1, an important target for the
treatment of AIDS
• Inhibition of the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes that mediate
allergies and inflammation through prostaglandin E-2
synthesis.
Dr. Jerry McLaughlin continues, ‘I am especially impressed because
Zambroza represents sound scientific rationale.
It is the result of following a unique experimental
approach to develop a new, more powerful, dietary
antioxidant supplement.” Antioxidants have the power
to stop unstable free radicals and prevent them from
damaging cell components. They also have
the power to prevent hundreds of diseases.’

Raspberries
(Rubus idaeus)
Raspberries are densely packed with powerful
phytochemicals that improve health and provide needed
energy. Raspberries are an excellent source of
manganese, vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and B
vitamins. They also contain bioflavonoids called
anthrocyanins and ellagic acid which are powerful
antioxidants.

Blueberries
(Vaccinium spp.)
Blueberries contain over forty compounds that have antioxidant
properties. Blueberries also contain one of the
highest concentrations of anthocyanin which makes it
one of the healthiest food choices in the fight
against premature ageing. Blueberries have also been
found to strengthen capillaries and help the body
maintain healthy levels of cholesterol.

Wolfberry
(Lycium barbarum) also known as
Goji Berries
For thousands of years, Chinese healers used the fruit
from the Wolfberry bush to strengthen the eyes, liver,
kidneys, and build healthy circulatory and immune
systems. Chinese physicians also use wolfberry for
infertility. One of the key constituents of wolfberry
is lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) which
protects the body against cellular damage. Wolfberries also contain
Carotenoids which are potent antioxidants. In-vitro results have shown a
protective effect against testicular degeneration,
thus providing a scientific basis for the traditional
use of this plant. Pharmacological and clinical
research indicate that wolfberry imparts a protective effect
on the liver, and raises serum levels and
macular density of zeaxanthin, which may decrease the risk for age-related
macular degeneration.

Green
Tea Extract
(Camellia sinensis)
The Chinese have known about the medicinal benefits of
green tea for over 4,000 years. Today, scientific
research in both Asia and the West are providing hard
evidence for the health benefits of green tea, such as
protection against ‘out of control cell growth’,
lowering total cholesterol levels and supporting the
digestive system. Published results of an 11-year
population-based prospective study conducted by the National
Cancer Centre in Tokyo Japan, found an inverse association between green
tea consumption and distal gastric
cancer among women. Those in the highest category of green tea
consumption had the lowest relative risk of cancer.
Another recent Japanese study found that green
tea consumption was associated with a lower incidence of coronary
artery disease. The more green tea patients
consumed, the less likely they were to have coronary artery disease,
which is the most common type of heart disease and the leading cause of
death in the UK in both men and women.

Apple
Juice and Peel extract
(M. domestica )
Nature’s Sunshine scientists found that a combination
of apples along with apple skins contain high amounts
of antioxidant compounds called phenols. Phenols help the body
maintain proper cell growth, support the
circulatory system and prevent the oxidation of the bad
cholesterol in fat which causes premature
ageing in cells as well as inflammation and other
damage. Epidemiological studies have linked apple
consumption with reduced risk of asthma,
cardiovascular disease and diabetes. The Women's Health
Study surveyed nearly 40,000 women with a 6-9 year follow-up and found
that women ingesting apples had a 13-22% decrease in
cardiovascular disease risk. Apple consumption has
been positively associated with general lung health,
including increased lung function, as well as increased weight-loss.

Grape
Juice, Seed & Skin Extracts
(Vitis spp.)
Scientists have measured the health properties of grapes and found that they
contain the vitamins A, B and C, as well
as thirteen minerals essential to human life.
Concord grape concentrate contains
anthocyanins, a class of flavonoids that give intense
colour to many fruits and vegetables. Epidemiological
studies have indicated that the consumption of
anthocyanin-containing products is associated with a lower risk of
cardiovascular disease and improvement of visual
functions. In addition, concord grapes contain resveratrol, which
demonstrates anti-inflammatory properties.
Red grape skin extract contains resveratrol,
a powerful antioxidant that exhibits anti-inflammatory
properties. In addition, red grapes contain
anthocyanins, which offer an array of health-promoting
benefits such as antioxidant protection and
cardio-protective effects.

Red grape seed extract is a powerful
antioxidant that protects the body from premature ageing,
disease and decay. Grape seeds contain a class
of naturally occurring compounds known as
proanthocyanidins, which have been shown in scientific
studies to have antioxidant power that is 20 times
greater than vitamin E and 50 times greater than vitamin
C. Many epidemiological studies indicate that
consumption of dietary polyphenolic compounds is beneficial in the
prevention of cardiovascular diseases. Other studies have shown that
grape seed proanthocyanidins help protect the
body from sun damage, enhance vision, improve flexibility
in joints, arteries and body tissues such as the heart, and
improve blood circulation by strengthening
capillaries, veins and arteries.
